Dr_Naresh

Dr.Naresh Shanmugam underwent undergraduate training at Stanley medical college and postgraduate training in paediatrics at Institute of child health, Chennai.

With a view to enhance his skills, He underwent Royal college of paediatrics and child health (RCPCH,UK) accredited structured training program   in Paediatrics and Neonates (Certificate of completion of training, C.C.T ) and then took sub-speciality training in Paediatric  Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition.

After extensive training, RCPCH and General Medical council (GMC, UK) awarded him Certificate of Sub-Speciality training (C.S.S.T) in Paediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Current Appointment:

Dr Naresh Shanmugam has taken up senior consultant post at Global Hospital, Chennai to develop comprehensive paediatric liver transplant programme at global hospital.  He has set up “Department of Paediatric Hepatology , Gastroenterology and Nutrition” at global hospital, Chennai  first of its kind in south India, to  provide medical management, investigations to liver transplantation under one roof for  various  disorders in children. He provides assessment and  medical management of paediatric liver transplant patients, outpatient and inpatient management of complex paediatric liver and gastro cases. He also trains paediatricians and dieticians in the field of advanced paediatric nutrition.

 

Previous Appointment:

He has worked at King’s college hospital , London as Specialist Registrar in children liver unit for 3 and half years. Kings college hospital is premier institute known worldwide for liver transplantation, particularly liver transplantation in children.

He has worked at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London as Specialist Registrar in children gastro unit for one years. Children Gastro Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, is a tertiary centre where complex paediatric gastrointestinal disorders are managed. Before moving into super-speciality he has worked at several hospitals in United kingdom as Registrar in Paediatrics and neonates  for four years.
